It appears that Prince was appalled by the public’s reaction to Chris Brown’s assault on girlfriend at the time, Rihanna, in 2008 when it was deemed “unforgivable”. “Unforgivable?” he said. “Goodness. That’s when we go check the master, Christ. … Have you ever instantly forgiven somebody?”
In a 2014 Rolling Stone interview which has just been published, the “Purple Rain” maestro spoke about wanting to invite Brown to his Paisley Park compound in Minneapolis.
“[MJ] is just one of many who have gone through that door—Amy Winehouse and folks,” he said. “We’re all connected, right, we’re all brothers and sisters, and the minute we lock that in, we wouldn’t let anybody in our family fall. That’s why I called Chris Brown. All of us need to be able to reach out and just fix stuff. There’s nothing that’s unforgivable”.
Prince’s unexpected death on April 21, aged 57, shocked the world. An autopsy is yet to reveal the cause of his death.
