After lengthy rights negotiations, Radiohead‘s self released 2007 classic In Rainbows has been added to Spotify. The news means that the band’s entire back catalogue of studio albums is now on the steaming service, after A Moon Shaped Pool was added earlier in the week.
The move follows scathing comments made by frontman Thom Yorke some years ago, when he criticised the Spotify business model for favouring the major labels. “I feel like as musicians we need to fight the Spotify thing” he said in 2013, before describing the service as “the last desperate fart of a dying corpse“. It seems the group now consider the streaming app a necessary evil for distributing their music.
