I’m not always a fan of her movies or acting style, but you’ve got to admire the chutzpah of Reese Witherspoon. Even though she’s won a ‘Best Actress’ Oscar, Witherspoon stills finds herself being offered rubbish parts in “awful” scripts. In fact, one script was so awful – a “dumb comedy” where it was hoped that Witherspoon would star as just the girlfriend, that the actress turned her hand to producing to improve the quality of roles out there for women.
Even as a producer, though, Witherspoon still encounters sexism in Hollywood, as she claims studio executives are willing to give male movie stars money to run their own companies, but they will not do the same for females.
