London’s rising star Reuben Aziz has unveiled the deluxe edition of his debut project how did we end up here? led by new single “Stick Around“. Since releasing the original project in September 2024, Aziz has made waves in the UK music scene with his captivating performances and viral freestyles.
A highlight of his journey so far was his debut headline show at The Grace, where Aziz showcased his multi-talented artistry as a singer, rapper, and guitarist. Joined by Proph and Odzmoney, the night drew to a close with a standout performance of “Stick Around”, an emotional R&B ballad. The track, co-produced with GX (known for work with Potter Payper and Nines), gained further momentum when Stormzy co-signed it after Aziz teased it on TikTok.
The deluxe edition also features “Always Come Back” and “Part 2”, the latter serving as an alternate outro to Aziz’s track “day+night” with US rapper wolfacejoeyy. Reflecting on the process, Reuben shared, “We had a shortlist of 50 songs going into this, but we always knew ‘Stick Around’ would be at the centre of it. I’m grateful we got past the initial sampling issue.”
Born in Southampton and now based in London, Aziz has been immersed in music since childhood. Inspired by his father’s love for Tupac, The Fugees, and DMX, his sound later evolved with influences from Pharrell and Frank Ocean. A self-taught vocalist and guitarist, Aziz’s journey from a promising basketball career to full-time musician speaks to his dedication.
Gaining an initial following through his rap freestyles on TikTok, Aziz’s talent has since gone viral on platforms like Balamii Radio and On The Radar. Earlier in 2024, he toured the UK and Europe with Artemas, delivering live acoustic performances that expanded his fan base beyond London.
With his new project, Aziz has laid the groundwork for a breakthrough year in 2025, cementing his position in the UK R&B scene.
