One of Universal Decca’s latest signings, Rhys Lewis, is really paving the way for bigger things to come this year. The soulful singer/songwriter from Oxford has released two recent singles, “Waking Up Without You”, about unrequited love, and “Living In The City”, which is about the positive, the negative and the range of emotions that comes with life in the concrete jungle.
Both tracks have been written with complete sincerity and most definitely have the relatability factor. Combining these stories with classic soul, you can certainly hear hints of Hosier and Tom Misch.
With two sold-out hometown gigs under his belt, he has announced a headline show at newly refurbished intimate Soho music venue, The Borderline, which has previously held host to Ben Howard, Ed Sheeran and Mumford & Sons to name a few. His tour supports include indie band, OUTLYA, who also have elements of folk injected in their acoustic set, as well as the poetic singer/songwriter, Mo Evans.
Rhys Lewis has also been chosen to support Brit Award Critic’s choice winner Rag ‘n’ Bone Man at his headline event at ‘Live In The Wylde’ in Cornwall this June. Is Rhys Lewis on your radar? Let me know what you think!
