It’s safe to say that Solange Knowles is enjoying her share of publicity right now, and with good reason. Her recent release, “A Seat At The Table”, reached number one in the Billboard 200 chart and was met with almost universal acclaim.
She was also invited to perform at SNL over the weekend, treating the audience to “Cranes In The Sky” and “Don’t Touch My Hair” (the latter saw her accompanied by Sampha). Perhaps Rick Ross saw an opportunity to cash in on this popularity, releasing a verse of his own on “Cranes In The Sky”.
The track suits his flow, even if the subject matter makes for a fairly dramatic departure from the emotion conveyed in the original. He has also limited himself to the first minute of the song, meaning that if you were really that desperate to listen to Solange, you’re not going to feel all that cheated.
