Hitmaker Rita Ora is in talk to star in the Disney‘s musical movie adaptation of the classic tale Oliver Twist! According to sources, she will play a role inspired by Artful Dodger from the original novel. The cunning pickpocket is a friend of Oliver Twist.
In the book and film, they meet after Oliver flees from his workhouse to London, and he becomes part of their juvenile pickpocket gang led by the character known as the Fagin.
This upcoming adaptation which is expected to be called Twist, is a modern retelling of the famous pickpocket with new songs to give it a contemporary edge. To confirm everything, A movie insider said:
“Rita has held discussions about the role and reckons it could really help cement her as a credible actress. The film is going to be considerably different from the original, but her character will be loosely based on the Artful Dodger“.
Thomas Kail, Hamilton director and Wicked producer Marc Platt are working on the project, and Rita Ora is not the only star expected to feature in the film. Indeed, in 2017 Adele had been approached to play Nancy, but we have no news on that for now. Also, rapper Ice Cube is believed to be playing Fagin.
Let’s wait and see, it looks like it could be a good melting pot of famous singers.
