Trainspotting 2 is the much anticipated sequel to the cult classic Trainspotting. There was multiple reasons as to why the sequel wouldn’t work; the growing stardom of al it’s stars (Ewan McGregor, Robert Carlyle, Kelly Macdonald), Danny Boyle working on other projects, would it be financially viable, and whether or not the script would be up to scratch. Well; all the actors, are back,bar Macdonald, Boyle, now an Oscar winner, is returning, someone thinks they can make money from it and according to Carlyle, ‘it’s one of the best scripts I’ve f**king read. I mean, ever. What John Hodge has done is just so clever’.
In an interview with NME, Carlyle had only the highest praise for John Hodge‘s script. He also went on to add that the film is not only about the characters, but also addresses the film’s audience. ‘I tell you, this film is going to be quite emotional for people. Because the film sort of tells you to think about yourself. You are going to be thinking:’ “F**k. What have I done with my life?” ‘. The original was released in 1996, and the new one is set to come out 20 years later in 2016, but there is no exact release date.
