The one and only Oscar-winner Robert De Niro will be starring in an upcoming Lionsgate comedy movie titled About My Father. This film will centre around the life of standup comic Sebastian Maniscalco and his relationship with his father.
Robert De Niro is set to play Maniscalco’s dad named Salvo in the movie. Sebastian and Robert will make the perfect pair as they will be reuniting after first appearing together in Martin Scorsese‘s drama The Irishman.
Regarding the premise, we will see in About My Father, Sebastian telling his old-school Italian immigrant dad, played by De Niro, about one of his plans to propose to his all-American girlfriend, with Salvo highly insist on crashing a weekend with her parents to get to know them.
Though cultures clash and it seems that the two families have nothing in common, by the end of the weekend, they’ll be la familia. About My Father will be directed by Laura Terruso from a script by Maniscalco and Austen Earl.
The production should be beginning later this year according to Nathan Kahane, the president of the Lionsgate Motion Picture Group. We are excited to see what this film is going to turn out but with Robert, we can already guess the film is going to be good.
