The captivating and critically acclaimed soul-pop singer Sam Smith is set to release his new single “I’m Not The Only One” on the 31st of August following previous #1 hits with “Money On My Mind” and “Stay With Me” which has sold over 2.2 million copies world wide to date. The new single is taken from his multi-platinum selling album which debuted at No.1 in the UK charts and No.2 on the US Billboard top 200 earlier this year.
“I’m Not The Only One” is an extremely powerful and heart aching song that is all about unrequited Love and knowing your partner has been unfaithful. “When you call me baby, I know I’m not the only one”, Sam so beautifully and honestly sings. Like much of Sam’s other work, the track is led by a piano and a marching mid tempo beat that is carried through by his mind blowing and utterly haunting vocals, which are like none other.
Since well deservingly winning the BRITS Critics Choice awards and topping the BBC Sound Of 2014 Poll, Sam has seriously established himself as one of the biggest breakout male artists in the UK this year. He is also proving to be quite the star in the US as well, and has been utterly embraced by some of the US’ finest artists including Nile Rogers, Maxwell and Mary J Blige, who recorded a very special version of “Stay With Me” with Sam. It appears there is no way but up for Sam and I can safely say he is one of my favourite artists and has been since I first listened to his acoustic version of “Lay Me Down” nearly a year ago.
