The Tony Hawk’s game series began in 1999 with Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater, and Neversoft – and later Robomodo – have been developing game after game ever since, making it the most popular skateboarding game in existence, even among those who have never skated in ‘real life’. The skating aspect is – obviously – important, but the soundtracks more than hold their own.
Countless artists have featured in the franchise including Rage Against the Machine, Johnny Cash, Run DMC, and The Sex Pistols. With a new game on the horizon, comes a 32-song soundtrack with music from Royal Blood, Death From Above 1979, Atmosphere, Yogi & Skrillex and more.
The songs are rock-centric but feature some punk, Hip Hop, and electronic music too. They also vary in tempo, so expect some slow beats coupled with energetic jams. Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5 is the sequel to 2002’s Pro Skater 4 and is out on September 29 (PS4 and Xbox One) and November 10 (PS3 and Xbox 360).
