South London multi-instrumentalist and producer Wu-Lu has unveiled his brand new single titled “Times”. The song is featuring Morgan Simpson of Black Midi on drums and it was released with an official video directed by Ethan and Tom.
The song is somewhere between jazz, metal, and spoken word. The theme of the song is self-discovery, coming-of-age, and liberation within oneself to grow.
Wu-Lu states “It’s of understanding that with time comes wisdom. Living life teaches us everything we can bounce back, we are made of more than what society wants to tell us. The world weighs heavy on all of our shoulders in different ways. It’s important that we look out for each other in time of growth“.
The artist is often linked to London’s jazz scene but his genre-less creativity exists on terms of its own. With his last single “South”, Wu-Lu was pushed to a new level, it is also a song where you can find a mix of different genres, it blends grunge, post-punk, dub, and rap into a protest rage fit for a global movement.
Wu-Lu has the ability to deliver his point of view and thoughts through an ever-evolving and always innovative sound. With his new song, he is continuing to show that he has his place on the UK music scene and that he will remain refreshingly underground and relatable.
With his music, Wu-Lu wants to represent people that are underrepresented, the ones that do not have a voice, and those who struggle to break down the barriers. We should watch him closely in 2021.
