Canadian-Cameroonian artist SUPER FREDDY is back with “Fifteen Hundred Weeks,” a smooth, introspective Hip-Hop/Soul cut that burrows deep into the anxieties of big dream chasing.
The song acts as a stark self-reflection and an anthem of resilience in a pivotal moment within his decade-long career-a chronicle of struggles one finds himself at while facing a fork in the road.
2024 was a chaotic year that was SUPER FREDDY’s. Facing musical career roadblocks and the mental strain of a toxic day job, he had found himself spiraling: sleepless nights, social withdrawal, and growing self-doubt clouded his path. Instead of harboring these terrors, he put them to words.
Explaining four central terrors: one of missing a window for greatness, one from hesitating when others were more concerned with standard life milestones for investment in their music, fear of failure of anything important, and the damning thought that one’s doubters may have actually been right all along. Instead of letting those fears define him, SUPER FREDDY used them for fuel.
“Fifteen Hundred Weeks” is the moment of clarity when he reckoned with his own insecurities and vowed to push forward. Over a lush, soulful production dripping in Hip-Hop, R&B, and jazz influences, he lays his doubts bare while ultimately betting on himself.
He made the giant leap from Montreal to London, UK, in the latter months of 2024 in search of new inspirations and opportunities. Moving was organic for this artist who grew up around the world, having lived in Washington, DC, Tunis, and Ottawa.
The music of SUPER FREDDY is a direct reflection of that intercultural experience, as he describes himself: “DIASPORA BOUNCE” – a Hip-Hop, R&B, Soul, and Pan-African blend that bridges cultures and generations.
The inimitable frontman of Ice Coast Entertainment Collective, SUPER FREDDY makes a cut for himself with this deeply personal record that speaks way beyond his narrative.
“Fifteen Hundred Weeks” is more than just a song-it’s a statement of persistence, a reminder that it’s never about the timelines but about your willingness to “just keep truckin“.
