We have all missed going out to our favourite music festival, but nowadays, artists and music organizations are trying their best to give us some live music content in a fun way, and that includes the seminal South By South West (SXSW), who are taking things online this year. They have recently announced a first set of list of the different artists that will be performing at their online festival.
South by Southwest started their journey in the 1980’s with various events in the Southwest of America. The company was founded by Roland Swenson, Louis Jay Meyers, Louis Black and Nick Barbaro. This group had the ambition to create a new music festival for other regions in America like Texas for example, and they have definitely succeeded in making SXSW a household name for more than just music festivals.
This year’s event will be their 35th since the start in 1987, although 2020 was the first year the company had to cancel their music festival because of the pandemic. So this year they are back in the game with a brand new online offering. The music festival will be taking place from March 16-20, 2021.
There will be different artists to be expected to feature as speakers, like Queen Latifah, Chiquis, Mark Mothersbaugh and many more. As well as Willie Nelson as a Keynote speaker.
Their announced list of artists and performers range from all around the world, across a wide variation of profiles, and because the internet can be magical and especially practical for these type of events, artists that may not ordinarily be able to travel to the US to perform at SXSW now have a chance to do so.
This festival is meant to give an even better experience than a physical festival – even if everyone would prefer that – the organizers want to give each performer the opportunity to showcase their talent to even more people who will be watching from their homes.
This list will surely be expanded in the next few weeks with more artists added on, but some of the artists confirmed to perform include A Place To Bury Strangers, PVA, Pillow Queens, Ego Ella May, Kee’ahn, Sir Woman, Connie Constance, Wavy The Creator and many more.
