SZA has broken streaming records with each song on SOS. Both Apple Music and Spotify fall under this category. According to Chart Data, SOS now holds the record for the most R&B album streams in a single day in Spotify history. This happens once 68 million streams have been accumulated.
SZA’s SOS, her sophomore album, was finally released on Friday. Fans have been waiting for the R&B sensation to eventually release a project for the past five and a half years. Hit singles including “Good Days,” “I Hate U,” and “Shirt” propelled SOS.
The 23 songs on SOS were immediately hailed online by fans. SZA had tremendous versatility on this album, releasing songs in the R&B, pop, rap, and rock genres. She also worked with Phoebe Bridgers, Don Toliver, Travis Scott, and the late Ol’ Dirty Bastard.
SZA initially gave the SOS release date a weekend ago. While performing and appearing on Saturday Night Live, this was done. Earlier that week, she also teased the official album cover image on social media. That almost proved SZA was committed to releasing her album in December. SOS by SZA set an R&B album single-day Spotify streaming record.
Each of the aforementioned lists’ top songs was “Kill Bill,” which also remarkably peaked at #5 on the Global Spotify chart.
The next two most popular songs on US Spotify were “SOS” (at #2) and “Nobody Gets Me” (at #3). On Apple Music, “SOS” (#2) and “Blind” (#3) received those rankings.
Additionally, the SOS album has been selling well, debuting at number one on the US iTunes album sales chart.
