On August 23, Avril Lavigne lit a match underneath Taylor Swift’s fans by posting an accusatory tweet supposedly aimed at Swift. In brief: Swift like’d a fan-made post on Tumblr which compared her warm interactions with fans compared to those who are more distant, Lavigne being one of them.
Any potential feud was extinguished before it got too heated though since, on August 29, Swift brought Lavigne onstage to sing her 2002 hit “Complicated”. To drive the point home, they shared a hug and showed their appreciation for each other on Twitter afterwards. Watch part of the performance below.
