The 74th Emmy Awards has made history for many reasons: Zendaya became the first black woman to win ‘Best Lead Actress in a Drama’ (Euphoria) and the youngest two-time Emmy winner in history.
Lee Jung-Jae became the first Asian actor to ever win ‘Best Lead Actor in a Drama’ (Squid Game) and only the fourth Asian person to win an acting Emmy.
Also, Sheryl Lee Ralph surprisingly won the ‘Outstanding Supporting Actress’ prize for Abbott Elementary, becoming the second black woman to achieve this.
Along with these talented artists, TV series Ted Lasso and Succession brought home the most important awards of the night, respectively ‘Best Comedy Series’ and ‘Outstanding Drama Series’.
But someone would argue that some of the most important awards are won even before the ceremony starts, on the red carpet.
The Emmy Awards weren’t even over when magazines and newspapers all around the world started writing about the fabulous looks that animated the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, evaluating and ranking them like only Miranda Priestly in The Devil Wears Prada would do.
2022 is a crucial year for the Emmy because the ceremony finally returned to be in person, taking place during the New York Fashion Week. And this can mean only one thing: bigger designs.
So, let’s have a look at the best-dressed celebrities at the 74th Emmy Awards.
A fashionable edition that saw men coming back to the award season in classic and always beautiful suits and tuxedos. The unofficial colour of the night was white, which, among the others, was worn by Andrew Garfield in Ermenegildo Zegna, Nicholas Braun in Dior, and John Legend in Gucci.
However, many chose to wear black, which was still a huge presence thanks to Murrey Bartlett in Louis Vuitton, Will Poulter and Nicholas Hoult in Dior, and Seth Rogers in Dolce & Gabbana.
And what about the ladies? Yesterday night was shining, not only for the thousands of lights used at the theatre but also because of the many incredible glittering dresses.
A few examples? The golden dresses of Lily James in Atelier Versace, Quinta Brunson in Dolce & Gabbana, and Sarah Niles in Boucheron jewelry lighted the Emmy night.
While Christina Ricci in Fendi, Alexandra Daddario in Christian Dior, Amanda Seyfried in Armani Privè Couture, and Ayo Edebiri in Giambattista Valli coloured the red carpet with their rhinestone gowns.
The glamorous night also presented a few ventured looks, such as Julia Garner in a Gucci dress with a cutout at the belly button, and Jasmin Savoy Brown in a Christopher Kane dress with cutouts at the hips and bust.
But there can be only one winner, and Zendaya knows it. Since her incredible talent started to be known around the globe, she also started to conquer one red carpet after the other.
This fashion icon has presented some of the most popular and beautiful looks over the past three years, and at the 74th Emmy Awards, she did it again!
Zendaya’s strong bond with Pierpaolo Piccioli is well known, and the 26-year-old actress collaborated again with Maison Valentino to create a breathtaking old-school black ballgown accessorized with Bulgari diamonds and a large bow in her hair.
As reviewed by many fashion magazines, this reminds us all of that timeless Old Hollywood Glamour that everyone wants nowadays but which is so difficult to achieve. Well, not for Zendaya.
