In anticipation of this week’s release of Snowden, we now have our first trailer for another feature, tackling the issues of cyber surveillance nowadays, namely The Circle.
The movie stars Emma Watson as the titular character Mae Holland, an ambitious young woman who gets a job in a powerful tech corporation. Run by the enigmatic Steve Jobs-like Eamon Bailey (Tom Hanks), the company uses high-tech to make life more transparent and inspires its employees to benefit from this by providing them with benefits.
As Mae quickly climbs the ladder she finds herself at odds with her ex-boyfriend Mercer (Ellar Coltrane) who is convinced that there is something rotten in The Circle and her loyalty is put to test.
The film also stars the beloved Karen Gillan and John Boyega, as well as Bill Paxton and Patton Oswald. There is no word yet on its release across the pond but, for now, you can watch the trailer below:
