Currently touring in support of their new album Sleep Well Beast, the first of theirs to go to No. 1 in the UK,
The National have been venturing outside of the album for some unique covers of alternative classics during their performances.
Previously covering the likes of New Order’s “Love Vigilantes”, the band ventured further back in time at their show last night at the Eventim Apollo in London. They chose to cover the electric Talking Heads classic, “Heaven”, to a thrilled audience. Released in 1979, the track “Heaven” is off of the Talking Heads album, Fear of Music.
The National’s talent for reinvention and collaboration is what has given them staying power over their years of music making, staying true to their alternative roots while giving new takes on the classics that have influenced them from the start. If you missed their London show last night, be sure to catch them tonight or tomorrow at one of their multiple London shows.
