Formed in Montreal, Canada in 2017, and comprised of Alberto D’Onofrio (Guitar), Benjamin Morris (Guitar, Vox), Matthew Grippo (Bass, Keyboards), and Jeremy Grippo (Drums, Percussion), THE UNFOUND are an exciting 4-piece band that play emotive, powerful and driving rock and roll in the vein of their biggest influences, such as Rush, David Bowie, and Foo Fighters.
The Unfound are rock and roll first and foremost; loud, chaotic and urgent, but with an underpinning of infectious melody that will get stuck in your head for days.
The Montreal 4-piece are excited to announce their debut single titled “Sooner Or Later“, which comes with a gripping and boisterous music video to match, as premiered via Exclaim!
Led by an unstoppable heavy groove, a 70s blues-rock sensibilities, and an anthemic sing-along chorus, “Sooner Or Later” is an explosive rock number and an instant crowd-favourite at gigs, which not only offers a strong and poignant message of perseverance and strength in the face of personal struggle, but also perfectly captures the distinctive and signature sound of The Unfound.
“Sooner Or Later” was written by all four members of The Unfound, and produced by The Damn Truth drummer Dave Traina, who has also previously worked with the likes of We Are Monroe, Juno Award winner Jean Massicote, and Grammy Award winner Tchad Blake, among others.
The single comes with a fun and exciting story-driven video, directed by lead guitarist Alberto D’Onofrio, which brings the track’s message of resilience further to life, by telling the story of three different ‘lost souls’ who reach their breaking points, but are able to find an opportunity for some much needed catharsis.
Speaking about the inspiration for “Sooner Or Later”, The Unfound say, “it is one of the very first songs we wrote as a band. The song is a fan favorite, and we always close our shows with it. The tone of the song is heavy and exciting, so it gets people moving, but it also has a huge sing-along chorus that really connects with the audience.
The song is about human resilience, and the ability of people to bounce back in the face of bad situations. We’re already working on our next single ‘Monochrome’, which will be released late 2019, to follow on from ‘Sooner Or Later’.
We came up with the ‘Sooner Or Later’ video concept together, and fortunately for us, our lead guitarist, Alberto also happens to be a filmmaker. The video was inspired by those rage rooms, where you can go and relieve pent-up frustration by smashing up old TVs and all kinds of junk with baseball bats.
As the song is about catharsis, we thought it would be awesome to show a few characters at their wit’s end, letting out their rage together. The shoot was an incredible thing to be a part of, and our dedicated cast had a lot of fun laying waste to the various items we had collected”.
