The xx have just released their new song, “On Hold”, from their third album, I See You, which will be released on Friday, January 13.
The single starts as indie, relaxed rock song and turns into an electronic, upbeat pop song during the chorus, coming as a surprise as it is quite far from their usual relaxed, alternative rock.
However, the band has worked on this album for two years across the United States (from Los Angeles to Texas) and even in London, so it is understandable they got influenced and pushed to change and mix their genre.
There are only a couple of months left before we can all appreciate The xx style or whether we will be surprised by other changes in their music.
