Jeremy Saulnier is back with another gritty thriller: Green Room. Saulnier first earned his chops with Blue Ruin, a grim thriller that achieved huge critical acclaim back in 2013.
Green Room, if the trailer is anything to go by, seems to channel the gripping psychological torment of his former film as the director flaunts his compelling style. However, it does have the added bonus of Patrick Stewart getting his redneck on in the starring role as white supremacist nightclub owner Darcy Banker; a mix of Walter White and the Ku Klux Clan.
The story finds a punk band, The Ain’t Rights, on tour who make an impromptu stop at Banker’s Oregon nightclub for a gig. It becomes biggest mistake of their lives. During the concert, a murder spree occurs which makes Sam Peckinpah‘s finale in The Wild Bunch look like a tea party. In an effort to remove any witnesses from the picture, Banker and his goons force the musicians to barricade themselves in the nightclub’s green room whilst they try to find a way to fight back.
Starring alongside Patrick Stewart are Anton Yelchin, Imogen Poots, Alia Shawkat, Joe Cole, Macon Blair and Callum Turner in what is sure to be a thriller to remember. You can expect Green Room to hit U.K. cinemas on May 13, which just so happens to be a Friday. …To have a look at the now-cursed thriller, check out the trailer below!
