Hailing from South Coast of the UK, Carley Varley is emerging in the pop/rock scene, and just realised new single, “ATTENTION!!!”. She is known for heartfelt lyrics and the energy she brings to her music, Carley blends her love of pop with a rock edge, creating a sound that’s relatable.
Carley’s band, formed in 2023, includes Alex Tompkins on guitar, Jordan Shepherd on bass, and Fred Sedegely on drums, alongside Carley as lead vocalist and guitarist. Together, they’ve built on Carley’s earlier solo work, adding a fuller, more dynamic sound to her songs.
Carley’s latest single, “ATTENTION!!!”, reflects her growing confidence as a songwriter. The song explores the excitement and anxiety of having a crush, capturing the lightheartedness and intensity of those emotions. Produced by Matt the Vessell, who also worked on her Homesick EP, the track features an upbeat, catchy chorus with driving electric guitars that give it a high-energy feel.
The bridge provides a standout moment, shifting to softer, angelic vocals that offer a refreshing contrast. It’s a thoughtful arrangement that highlights Carley’s versatility and her ability to balance out energy and emotion.
Carley’s musical journey began as a teenager, inspired by bands like Paramore, Linkin Park, and Evanescence. Starting with busking in her hometown, she gradually built a following that led to performances at venues like The Railway Inn and The Halfmoon Putney, as well as local festivals such as Poole Harbour Festival and Dubs South Festival.
Her early work as a solo artist, including her 2019 EP Captured Memories, introduced fans to her thoughtful songwriting and clear vocals. Over the years, Carley has continued to develop her sound, moving from the genre of pop into more of alternative genre while maintaining the emotional honesty that defines her music.
Carley’s hard work and talent have earned her recognition in the local music scene, with several of her tracks, including Homesick and Better Without Me, featured on BBC Introducing. With a new EP planned for 2025, she continues to push herself creatively, writing music that resonates with her audience.
