“Almost There” is the latest track from Vic Mensa and Mr Hudson. After almost a year Mensa has finally returned with not just one new song but a whole new project.
The Manuscript is the title of his latest EP and “Almost There” features as the first single from the project. Collaborating with Mr Hudson was a definitely a good look for this track as it adds to the musical iridescence of the track.
Mr Hudson’s vocals on the chorus are reminiscent of his early work on a lot of Kanye West’s track and is a good contrast to Mensa’s darker sound and stern lyrics.
“Almost There” I find is a fitting title as it summarises Mensa’s attempt to reintroduce himself as a more developed artist; one who is confident in his own style and sound.
