Blade star Wesley Snipes revealed back in July that he was in talks with big-wigs over at Marvel about jumping back on board to bring the Vampire hunter to the big screen once again. And those talks… seem to be going well. “[Marvel] see the value in it. We see the value in it. I’m still in shape enough and fit enough to handle the role. We’ll see how it goes. I don’t really know what’s going to happen to it yet”.
Talking to Huffpost Live, Snipes mentioned that the project was now in Marvel’s hands stating that “they’re controlling the pace and the flow with that. Conversations have been good”. This assertion backs reports that Marvel were interested in bringing the Blade franchise into the growing MCU, after they regained the rights to the character some time in 2011.
In an article posted last month on our site, Marvel revealed they had postponed the release of their All-New, All-Different Blade comic book series centred around Blade’s daughter Fallon Grey. Because the character and the Blade property had suddenly been “considered extremely important”, with many believing that Snipes could return in a supporting role to his daughter.
With a MCU Blade film some-ways of as yet, Snipes did seem excited when asked about his character joining The Avengers. “That would be interesting. I mean, I know it’s in the comic book. It would be interesting to see where they would place him and where he really would fit in. He’s got to bite somebody. I don’t know who he’s going to bite”.
