The co-writer and co-director of the 2014 horror comedy flick What We Do In the Shadows is in negotiations to direct the upcoming Marvel film Thor: Ragnarok. The New Zealand-born writer and director Taika Waititi is an unusual choice to take the reins of a big-budget, blockbuster franchise like the Thor series since he only has two feature films to his name.
However, his proven clever wit will no doubt prove popular with Marvel fans and here’s hoping it will be another surprise director turned sensation if Taika Waititi does take on the project. Taika Waititi is currently in New Zealand shooting his latest film Hunt For The Wilderpeople and has also contributed to the script of the upcoming Disney flick Moana. Thor: Ragnaroki s scheduled for an October 2017 release.
