Wilco have surprised their fans by releasing a new album and it costs absolutely nothing! Links to the album, entitled Star Wars, were made available last night (July 16) via social media. Commenting on why they decided to release the album so suddenly and for free lead singer Jeff Tweedy stated, “well, the biggest reason, and I’m not sure we even need any others, is that it felt like it would be fun. What’s more fun than a surprise?“. Star Wars continues the band’s transition away from its country and folk roots towards a more experimental indie rock sound.
