With Ridley Scott’s The Martian already boasting a cast with the likes of Matt Damon and Jessica Chastain, it looks like funny man Jeff Daniels may just make it onto the billing also. Daniels, who’s well known for his performances in films like Dumb and Dumber, 101 Dalmatians, Away We Go and Looper, has been rumored to star along side Damon in Scott’s new sci-fi epic about a stranded astronaut, struggling to survive on hostile Mars.
Damon will play the astronaut protagonist who finds himself in quite the pickle, while his co-workers back on Earth, try desperately to organize a rescue mission. With other big names like Kristen Wiig, Kate Mara and Michael Peña also rumored to be joining the cast, The Martian is set to be one big blockbuster. Ridley Scott only took over as director once Drew Goddard, who wrote World War Z and The Cabin in The Woods, stepped down. The Martian is set to open in UK cinemas on November 27, 2015.
