The first World War Z film had well documented production problems and now problems are beginning to surface on the sequel.
Director Juan Antonio Bayona has been attached to the sequel since December 2013, but has now walked away before production has started.
Paramount Studio Announced:
“Bayona is no longer able to make World War Z 2 this year and it is our ambition to do so. He is a wonderful director and we hope to work with him soon.”
The film will be a follow up to 2013 World War Z and again be inspired by the Max Brooks novel.
In the meantime Bayona will continue to promote his film A Monster Calls, starring Liam Neeson due October 21, 2016.
