Kent emerging artist Yoshika Colwell is back with her latest single “Last Night“, her first new music since her collaboration with The Vernon Spring, released last year.
Inspired by a dream and written in just a half hour in her caravan, this cosmic track is the truth of her subconscious making its way to the surface through all the mental confusion and muddle, all throughout the song.
This song goes towards exploring the lines between the reality and the dreams, where feelings come to the surface but remain unresolved. The song dives into the uncertainty of relationships, memory and self-perception, even conveying a sense of longing and nostalgia, exposing the way certain moments persist in our minds and haunts us with their unsettled questions.
From the South East of England, she recorded her acclaimed debut EP There’s A Time, produced by Old Bayston at Studio Orbb, featuring Rachel Horton-Kitchlew on harp and Joe Harvey-Whyte on pedal steel, gathering approval from the BBC 6 Music, The Line Of Best Fits, Holler, Clash and The New Cue.
Yoshida has been writing and doing shows alla across the UK, since she started making music in 2017, where thanks to her talent, support slots with Gotts Street Park, Fionn Regan and Bears Den, have followed.
“Last Night” features Yoshika’s ability to combine her personal story with ample instrumentation, creating a landscape that feels intimate and broad at the same time. This track really captures the surreal emotions of a dream reflecting the sens of mystery and longing that fill the song’s lyrics and meaning.
