Earlier in the year, it was confirmed that a Gremlins 3 would definitely be happening, much to the pleasure of any long serving fans of the cult movie. Both Gremlins and 1990’s Gremlins 2 follow a boy (Zach Galligan) and his furry friend Gizmo, who is to be kept away from water and not fed after midnight, for fear of some mischievous (and equally cute/terrifying) consequences.
The 1984 original has become quite the classic, even for those who were not yet born upon its release, so it ought to be a relief that Gremlins 3 won’t be a ‘reebot’ or ‘remake’ as such. Instead it seems the production will be following the likes of Jurassic World, set some 30 years since the original.
Despite this, it’s thought that “some of the characters” from the original will make an appearance, with any luck, including Zach Galligan himself, although he claims he doesn’t know if he’s “in it or not“. 80s remakes seem to be popping out of the woodwork constantly these days, so there’s a lot of pressure to do the original justice – And only time will tell.
