Darren Aronofsky To Direct Channing Tatum’s Evel Knievel Biopic? | Film News
After drawing a huge amount of controversy with his last film, the biblical epic Noah, Darren Aronofsky seemed likely to be moving back to low-budget fare after a flirtation with blockbusters. Deadline reports this morning that this isn’t the case, as he is in talks to direct Channing Tatum‘s passion project – a biopic of Evel Knievel.
The project was first announced in 2012 by Tatum, but has lingered in development hell ever since. With Tatum now a respected actor thanks to collaborations with Steven Soderbergh, Bennett Miller and Phil Lord/Chris Miller (not to mention appearances in the new films from Quentin Tarantino and the Coen Brothers), it seems like he could have any director he chooses – and with a director of Aronofsky’s talent without a new project, it seems like he could have found an ideal match.
