Alan McGee has branded the cover, which was used on the latest John Lewis advert, as “rubbish”. The cover, which was sung by Norwegian singer Aurora, has come under much scrutiny from rock and Oasis fans alike. McGee told Gigwise: “I don’t know what anybody else thinks of it, though. I’m pleased for Noel that he got his royalties, I hope they gave him a million quid”. The John Lewis cover-version made its first real statement in 2010 with Ellie Goulding’s cover of “Your Song” by Elton John.
