Louis Vuitton’s artisitic director Virgil Abloh has called on rapper 21 Savage to star in the new campaign for the high fashion brand’s upcoming men’s summer capsule collection.
The luxury French fashion house’s summer lookbook shot on Venice beach is inspired by the style of the skate, art and beach scenes of the California West Coast. Teaming up for the second time with Abloh, 21 Savage appears in colorful, pastel and watercolor-painted outfits against California landscapes.
The collection’s items all splashed with the Louis Vuitton monogram range from trousers to sneakers to duffles, cross-body bags, suits, hoodies, crewnecks, outerwear and bucket hats. You can also find jewellery such as bracelets, rings and a multi-colored chain necklace equipped with LV charms.
The capsule collection, which will hit stores on March 19, also showcases environmentally conscious items. All colors used for the collection were made without chlorine or metals and the cotton is certified by the Better Cotton Initiative or the Global Organic Textile Initiative.
By 2025, the brand aims to reach an eco-design strategy for 100 percent of their products as the brand evolves towards a more environmentally friendly future.
According to a press release on the collection, “Conveying a sense of the infinite—a recurrent theme in Virgil Abloh’s collections—this wardrobe is embodied and highlighted by the American rapper 21 Savage’s casual energy and is a reference to West Coast skaters and artists”.
According to Louis Vuitton, the pieces are meant to “convey emotions diffused with a sort of joyful nostalgia mingling with a sense of endless possibilities”.
