Owen will release his latest album, The King Of Whys, via Polyvinyl Records this Friday, July 29. The solo project of American Football frontman, Mike Kinsella, Owen’s new record was produced by Sean Carey in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, and has already had plaudits from many in the industry’s press.
The King Of Whys is available to stream in full (https://www.spin.com/2016/07/mike-kinsella-owen-king-of-whys-interview-premiere-album-stream) and available on limited edition vinyl through pre-order, here. It will be released outside of North America via Wichita Recordings. Owen’s prior outings were almost entirely performed by Kinsella on his own, though Carey has drafted in some of Wisconsin’s finest players to pad things out.
Wisconsin musicians such as Zach Hanson, served as engineer on the record, with violist Michael Noyce, pedal steel guitarist/keyboardist Ben Lester, horns player Andy Hofer, and bassist Jeremy Botcher all feature. These guys all share credits with people including Bon Iver, aforementioned S. Carey, The Tallest Man On Earth and more.
