Having ditched his ‘Just Frank’ moniker in favour for his full name, East London R&B/Soul musician Frank Addai makes a welcome and long-awaited return to the British music landscape in 2017, with his brand new offering “Runnin’ (Lose It All)“, which is a glorious R&B reworking of Naughty Boy’s 2015 hit single of the same name, which featured Beyoncé and Arrow Benjamin.
Reworked in collaboration with acclaimed music producer, arranger and composer Ian Green, who has previously worked with the late great Michael Jackson, Justin Timberlake, Madonna, and Britney Spears, to mention a few, Frank Addai’s “Runnin’ (Lose It All)” transforms the Naughty Boy original into an organic and soulful R&B alternative, led by his rousing and commanding vocals.
Speaking about his inspiration for remaking this particular record, Frank Addai says, “It speaks to where I’m at in life and in my musical journey right now. I’ve tried hard to supress the desire to do music as a career, because I convinced myself that other career interest were more worthwhile. However, towards the back end of last year, I came to a final conclusion, that music is what I should be doing”.
While “Runnin’ (Lose It All)” is Frank Addai’s first piece of music in recent years, he is no stranger to the UK music scene. His 2013 EP The Intro garnered critical acclaim from MTV UK, ILUVLIVE and the MOBO Awards among others, and before that, he gained early notoriety as part of the BBC’s Last Choir Standing finalists Revelation Choir, and as one-third of popular underground vocal group Nu-Soul.
Having taken this hiatus to hone his skills further, record new music and collaborate with new producers, Frank Addai is now working with Ian Green on his forthcoming debut album, with this new Naughty Boy remake offering only a taste of what to expect from this new-found collaborative effort. If “Runnin’ (Lose It All)” is anything to go by, we can expect 2017 to be a glorious return to form for Frank Addai.
