Just over a week ago, American alternative rockers, The Killers, debuted their fifth studio album, Wonderful Wonderful. In the first week of its release, the album sold 118,000 album equivalent units (accounting for digital sales), 111,000 of those being traditional album sales.
Previously, their album Sam’s Town had released at the number two spot and their last album, 2012’s Battle Born, debuted at number three, making this the first time The Killers have achieved a number one release. In getting to the top spot, The Killers knocked The Foo Fighters’ Concrete and Gold, which held the number one spot last week, to number two.
Last week, The Killers performed their first single from Wonderful Wonderful, “The Man”, on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert and they will continue a rigorous touring schedule in October, playing through February. For a complete list of tour dates, click here.
