Wonder Woman‘s mastermind director, Patty Jenkins, is beginning to build up the cast of her TNT drama series One Day She’ll Darken. Leland Orser is the latest to sign on to the project, set to star opposite what looks to be a frequent collaborator of Jenkins, Chris Pine.
Written by Sam Sheridan and inspired by the autobiography of Fauna Hodel, the series tells the story of Hodel, who was abandoned as a baby by her teenage mother in a Nevada restroom in 1949. When she began to investigate her past, she uncovered dark secrets that brought her to Dr. George Hodel, famed for the suspicions of his involvement in the Black Dahlia murder of Elizabeth Short in 1947.
Leland Orser will play Peter Sullivan, a Night Managing Editor for the Los Angeles Times, himself the survivor type who owns his own world. Forced into cynicism, alcoholism and dark humour, it doesn’t stop him from carrying the hope that truthful reporting plays a vital role in society.
Orser isn’t necessarily a big name, but Jenkins’ abilities and prowess certainly seem the type capable of launching actors’ careers. Up until now, his notable roles include Father Tomas Romero for two seasons on Showtime’s Ray Donovan, and Sam in the Taken franchise.
