More details have emerged in regards to the new show set to reunite Wonder Woman duo Patty Jenkins and Chris Pine. One Day She’ll Darken is set to be a six-part series with Pine set to star in every episode, with Jenkins directing at least the first two episodes and executively producing the series.
The project will follow the story of Fauna Hodel, a woman who was given away at birth by her teenage mother to a black restroom worker in 1949. As she begins to investigate the secrets of her past, she follows a sinister trail that leads her to infamous Hollywood gynaecologist, Dr. George Hodel, a man involved in Hollywood debauchery and possibly the infamous Black Dahlia murder of 1947.
Some casting news has now arrived, with Fauna to be played by India Eisley (Underworld: Awakening) while Jefferson Mays (The Americans) will play the doctor. Pine is set to star as Jay Singletary, a former marine turned hack reporter.
The series has been written by Jenkins’ husband, author Sam Sheridan, which has been inspired by Fauna Hodel‘s autobiography. It’s another instance of a successful filmmaker making the jump to TV, and the quite incredible story is perfect for some potentially stunning television.
It would be additionally awesome if Jenkins could find time to direct all six episodes, as that would allow her to have a bigger say in the direction of the show, not dissimilar to how Jean-Marc Vallée directed all six episodes of Big Little Lies, making it feel a lot like one big film rather than separate episodes of television.
The show currently has no premiere date, but will eventually air on TNT.
