Christopher Nolan Out Of The Running To Direct Next Bond | Film News

The build up to the next James Bond project is always rife with rumours of who may direct the film. Most of the rumours end up being pipe dreams anyway, but one oft-rumoured name has already taken himself out of the running to stop any unnecessary webpage space being wasted.

Christopher Nolan is always brought up as a potential Bond director, which probably has something to with him being arguably the most popular director in the world right now, and the fact that he’s British. However, during an interview with BBC Radio 4, the director took his name out of the running for the next Bond instalment:

“I won’t be the man. No, categorically. I think every time they hire a new director I’m rumoured to be doing it”. Despite declining, Nolan has fuelled the rumours in the past by saying that he would “love to make a Bond film at some point”.

He’s also praised the producers of the series, Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli, who he said do a “tremendous job and Sam Mendes has done a terrific job the last couple of films, so they don’t particularly need me. But I’ve always been very inspired by the films and would love to do one someday”.

So, disappointment for Bond fans right now. However, there seems to be a very good chance in the future that Nolan will one day be at the helm of a 007 flick. One would imagine he only has to pick up the phone and the gig is his.

Until that day comes, the search continues for the director of the next Bond film, which is currently scheduled to hit cinemas on November 8, 2019.
