If you still don’t have plans for Friday night, and even if you do, you can’t miss something that happens once in a century: so tomorrow go out, sit somewhere, eyes up and enjoy the lunar eclipse.
It will be a unique natural show, visible almost everywhere in the world at different timetables: in Mumbai the Moon will turn red around 1am, while in Sydney at 5:30 in the morning. In the UK it will happen around 9:20 pm and will last for exceptionally 1 hour 43 minutes and 35 seconds.
This incredible phenomenon happens under a very peculiar condition, when Sun, Moon and Earth totally line up. Tomorrow’s toal eclipse will be the longest of the century so far.
What makes the celestial event even more interesting and spectacular is the red tone that the planet will get: in the sky you will see a “blood Moon“, as it is also called, and this is due to the filtered sunshine in our atmosphere, that turns the Moon surface red when it is fully in Earth’s shadow.
It has been a summer of remarkable weather facts; tomorrow should be also the end of the exaggerated “heat wave” in the UK, that has been causing such high temperatures all over England and North Europe, alongside terrible fires in Greece and unstandeable climate conditions in Japan.
