Florence Pugh is set to star in director Ari Aster‘s follow up film to his critically acclaimed horror hit, Hereditary. Production is reportedly already underway in Budapest but everything else, including plot details and a title, are being kept under wraps.
We do know that A24 is producing once again, which isn’t a surprise considering that Hereditary became the studio’s highest-grossing film, reeling in $70 million worldwide. That success naturally meant they were quick to sign on to finance and distribute Aster’s next project.
Pugh revealed the news while promoting her new BBC drama Little Drummer Girl, a limited series helmed by Park Chan-Wook, based on the novel by John Le Carré and also starring Alexander Skarsgard and Michael Shannon. The eight episode series will premiere in October.
She’s broken out over the last few years with roles in Lady Macbeth and The Falling, being a 2018 BAFTA Breakthrough nominee, while she’s also the female lead in the upcoming Netflix drama Outlaw King, which is directed by David Mackenzie (Hell Or High Water) and will debut Friday, November 9.
On top of that, she’s also just landed the coveted role of Amy March in Greta Gerwig‘s remake of Little Women alongside Emma Stone, Meryl Streep, Saoirse Ronan and Timothee Chalamet. Now with this starring role lined up, we could be looking at a true star in the next few years.
