With Chris Evans having announced that he just wrapped filming on Avengers 4 yesterday – perhaps the final time he plays Captain America – he’s not wasting time on finding another great project to sink his teeth into. Deadline reports that he’s signed on to star alongside Daniel Craig in Rian Johnson‘s upcoming murder mystery, Knives Out.
Johnson will make the film before he heads off to helm his new Star Wars trilogy, which will likely be a gargantuan task, while the film will also be made before Craig has to begin production on Bond 25. Getting to see two major actors synonymous with major franchises star together in a standalone thriller film is pretty exciting.
Although plot details are still under wraps for Knives Out, it’s considered one of the hottest Hollywood projects out there. Media Rights Capital bought the world rights to the project at the Toronto International Film Festival. At the time of Craig’s casting, Johnson praised him and talked about collaborating and trying to create a modern detective in the vain of Hercule Poirot.
Ironically, despite being one of the busiest actors in Hollywood since being cast as Captain America, it’s Evans that now has plenty of time to make this film. Johnson and Craig are the ones with major franchises looming, which means Knives Out is scheduled to enter production very soon. We’ll wait on more details to emerge for one of the most enticing projects in development right now.
