British musical prodigy Dave makes the biggest announcement of his career – the release of his debut album Psychodrama for release next month. Hotly anticipated with all his recent success and his powerful singles, he leads the album with another powerful new single and video for “Black“.
The cinematic visual for “Black” was directed by long-term collaborator Nathan James Tettey and 20-year-old newcomer Edem Wornoo. Filmed across London, Manchester and Lagos, it profoundly explores the positives and negatives of being black. Black identity, excellence and the diaspora is addressed both visually and sonically, set to the tone of Fraser T Smith‘s chilling piano keys.
The video features an all-star ensemble of young black icons including Stormzy, Raheem Sterling, Ozwald Boateng OBE, Dina Asher-Smith, Tiffany Calver, Damson Idris and science/tech diversity advocate Dr Anne-Marie Imafidon MBE.
The success of topping the charts, becoming the youngest ever winner of an Ivor Novello Award, amassing over 600m streams as an independent artist. Dave continues to cement his reputation as a remarkably gifted storyteller and could not have prefaced his debut album any better. Psychodrama is set for release on March 8.
