The Ghanaian prince of Dancehall – Stonebwoy returns with his very first single of the year and it’s definitely a heater! It’s another international collaboration as he teams up with the King of Dancehall Beenie Man for his brand new single “Shuga“.
Streetbeatz is the main man who concocted the canvas for both mega artists to thrive. It’s a forward thinking, Afro-infused party track that pops and smacks in the right places And as the weather finally starts to heat up, it makes it the perfect collaboration for the season.
The visuals definitely take the track to a whole nother level. Set within the beautiful Jamaica city of Kingston, it seems like director BlingBling utilising the country’s public transportation system for the high energy, fun-filled visuals. The two are joined by the island’s locals as daily life comes to a halt for a much needed party. You would think that a train carriage would be the most unlikely place to hold such a thing but you might be wrong.
Stonebwoy comments on the track: “Working with Beenie Man has been great! it’s actually been long overdue[…]I’ve visited Jamaica a number of times, I’ve had the pleasure of meeting him and we’ve had deep conversations about how we know that Afrobeats and Dancehall/Reggae music has the same rules. There needs to be more collaborations like this and Beenie has been in that space for a very long time trying to make these happen.”
Already worked with the likes of Sean Paul and Trey Songz, Stonebwoy flies the flag for Africa. Continuing to bridge the genres of Afrobeats and Dancehall/Reggae, “Shuga” is yet another perfect way to do so. And another ultimate summer hit!
