Hackney singer-songwriter Kali Claire takes her first bold step into music with the release of her debut single “Fix My Lonely“. Premiered on Julie Adenuga’s Beats 1 show last night, it serves as lead single from Kali’s forthcoming EP Symptoms of A Teen.
“Fix My Lonely” was, in a way for the 20-year-old, seeking answers for a solution that she later realised could only be solved within herself. It’s a wonderful slice of future R&B feels, with rhythm & synths, and sweet sprinkles of contemporary pop. Her presence is not overstated and the vocal performance adds to the dream-like essence that the track induces.
The video sees our young star in a state of perpetual loneliness; being at a house party surrounded by all those people yet still feeling so isolated. The one she seeks in order to ‘fix her lonely’ is seemingly nowhere to be found.
Although not having an official single previously released, Kali has gained major attraction. Her vocals feature on Not3s’ chart-topping “My Lover” as well as Unknown T’s second offering “Throwback“. Plus she has a cult following thanks to a sold-out Sofar Sounds performance.
Symptoms of A Teen is centred around Kali’s teenage years growing up in London with an underlying theme of ‘coming of age’ and ‘growing pains’, opening up a dialogue addressing what teenagers go through on the 5-track-EP. Fusing her love for R&B, Soul and Pop and creating her ever-growing sound, Kali Claire is now ready to unveil herself and talents as the UK’s best kept secret.
