The Trailer For ‘Downtown Abbey: The Movie’ Is Finally Here | Film Trailer

 

Focus Feature have released the first trailer for one of their most anticipating movie of the year, Downtown Abbey. Four years after the end of Julian Fellowes’ hit TV series, the cast of Downtown Abbey are back, but this time, in big screen, to continue to close up this epic series.

 

The movie is set in 1927 in the much modern era, approximately eighteen months after the TV series ended, the trailer shows us that the aristocracy Crawley is the midst of a domestic crisis when they receive an unexpected visit from the royal family, who decide to come to Downtown Abbey. The Crawleys and their butlers have to prepare everything for this event.

 

The royal couple don’t appear in the trailer, but we know King George V and his wife, Queen Mary, are the future guests who are coming for lunch. The staff is not too pleased when a royal butler David Haig inspects the locals, but thanks to the veteran Carson (Jim Carter) who shows up to help the staff, and also face off the attacks of the ferocious royal butler.

 

Fan-favourite characters set to appear in the film include Hugh Bonneville, Laura Carmichael, Michelle Dockery, Joanne Froggatt, Matthew Goode, Allen Leech, Jim Carter, Elizabeth McGovern, and Dame Maggie Smith. The film is due to be released in the UK on September 13. Watch the trailer below:
