Iron Man 3 writer Drew Pearce has signed on to write and direct a high-concept thriller at Netflix. The film is titled Quartermaster. Plot details are currently being kept under wraps, but Netflix has fast-tracked production, and Pearce has already begun a casting search.
Per Variety, the streaming giant bought Pearce’s pitch in the room before he could take it to another studio. So they clearly saw something right away in his idea. Marc Platt and Adam Siegel will produce, the latter having worked with Pearce before on his directorial debut, Hotel Artemis.
Pearce first became known for his breakout series No Heroics. The show was set in modern day Britain but in an alternate universe where superheroes are the norm. Superhero taxes, anti-cape leagues, and the Super Powers Authority are all aspects of this version of modern life. No Heroics was one of the reasons Pearce secured the Iron Man 3 gig.
He has since established himself as a trusted screenwriter for the action genre, working on films such as Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation and the upcoming Fast & Furious spinoff, Hobbs & Shaw. Quartermaster is expected to lean more towards the thriller the genre than its action counterpart.
We’ll wait for plot details to arrive.
