FKA Twigs has confirmed an upcoming European tour in support of her long-awaited second album Magdalene, which is due for release next month.
British singer-songwriter FKA Twigs recently made her comeback to the music scene announcing new material coming later this year. Now the artist has shared details of her European tour starting in November with a slot at London’s O2 Academy Brixton.
The singer will also stop in other European cities, including Milan, Paris, Brussels and Amsterdam. She will be performing her highly praised and carefully choreographed live show bringing to life her forthcoming sophomore LP, Magdalene.
The follow-up to 2014’s LP1 arrives on October 25. Yesterday, the art pop icon revealed the album’s full tracklist and talked about the inspiration behind Magdalene. The new release comes after a five-year break caused by heartbreak and health problems.
“I never thought heartbreak could be so all-encompassing”, the singer said. “I never thought that my body could stop working to the point that I couldn’t express myself physically in the ways that I have always loved and found so much solace. I have always practiced my way into being the best I could be, but I couldn’t do that this time, I was left with no option but to tear every process down”.
Along with the tour announcement, FKA Twigs has shared a new song called “Holy Terrain” and a video to go with it. The track produced by Skrillex and Jack Antonoff is a collaboration with Future and follows the previously released “Cellophane”.
In her recent interview with i-D, FKA Twigs talked about recording with the Atlanta rapper: “I wasn’t sure whether [Future] would even know who I am. I was like, ‘Hi, it’s twigs. Let me know if you wanna talk about music or anything,’” she recalled. “He texted back right away”.
The clip directed by Nick Walker and the singer herself sees FKA Twigs perform a skilfully crafted choreography with a group of back-up dancers on an empty desert and then around a fireplace. The video closes with the vocalist covered in white paint riding a black bull.
