Chris Evans is lining up another post-Captain America role. He’s reportedly in talks for a key role in Greg Berlanti‘s upcoming Little Shop Of Horrors. Evans has been publicly lobbying for the role of dentist Orin Scrivello, and that is indeed the role he looks to have secured.
Little Shop Of Horrors is based on the 1960 Roger Corman movie that was adapted into a popular 80s stage musical. That version was then turned into the 1986 movie starring Rick Moranis as Seymour, Ellen Greene as Audrey and Steve Martin as the nitrous oxide-addicted dentist. If it helps, Evan’s own father is an actual dentist, so he may have some second-hand experience.
A potentially stacked cast may join Evans. Scarlett Johansson is circling the role of Audrey while Taron Egerton is in talks to play her love interest Seymour. Pose star Billy Porter will voice the role of the man-eating plant Audrey II. Yeah, it’s a weird story.
Berlanti is producing the film alongside Marc Platt and Sarah Schechter, and production is expected to begin this summer. If those aforementioned names all sign on, Little Shop Of Horrors will quickly jump from an oddity into a potentially huge hit. With stars and a built-in audience, there’s plenty of potential here.
